Chinese in Malay Language

Malaysian TV will soon show a Chinese drama that will definitely catch lots of people attention. The reason why, is that...the Chinese drama will have their casts speaking in neither Mandarin nor Cantonese but BAHASA MELAYU. Yes, you see it right! So-called Chinese drama but speaks in BM. One would just go, "Say that again?". When I read the news in thestar online, I couldn't believe that they could really go ahead with the idea although it is suggested by a Minister. They spent like RM20-30k to produce such drama. Come on! Think about it. Chinese speaking BM? Don't you think is funny? Not to mention not all Chinese can speak fluent BM. How fluent can one be, there's somehow the accent or the tongue twisting factor of being a Chinese that will just ruin the whole drama UNLESS they hire a Baba or Nyonya casts la. Then, I believe these people could give you the fluent and seriously nice-to-listen BM. But, other than that...the whole show will just turn out to be a comedy rather than a drama. People will watch it because they want to see how they ridicule themselves. Imagine this.." Bapak, saya dah balik. Mari makan. Saya sudah tapao char siew fan.".What a riot!

I'm not saying I'm not supporting our local Chinese drama. Heck! I always watch our local Chinese drama because some I see really got the potential but just need to be brush up a bit. But this is beyond the case! What were they thinking? The Minister wants to reach out to the Malay viewers. But to my personal and humble opinion, I think the Malay viewers rather watch the Chinese speaking Chinese drama with subtitles. Anyone forgotten about the power of TVB and Taiwan dramas which churned out lots of followers from all races? To think that the local Chinese drama is not doing so well compared to the HVD time and yet they can come up with such 'drama' instead of reviving the golden days of the local Chinese drama. Considering they got so much time and effort to do such thing, they better of thinking of switching the Mandarin language to Cantonese for the local Chinese drama. This kind of 'creative' drama is beyond my imagination. Next up, what? Indian drama speaking BM? They should just pay more focus on the Chinese speaking Chinese drama and our English production market. I just don't understand some people.. Here's the full story of the 'drama' of the year...

True. It's more common to see Indians speaking in BM than Chinese

Okay, I want to say it is a S..... idea. Seriously! Malays watched alot of non-BM shows come on! So is Chinese. Okay, why don't they produce one show where Malays or Indians speak Chinese or vice-versa. If it's a Baba and Nyonya show then it's okay la but....aiyo aiyo, I also don't what to say.

I would say a BIG no-no to "Mind Your Language" BM version, after spoilt my fav.show :P
